Through the partnership, the Township has constructed the new Emergency Medical Services Land Ambulance Base, and the KDSB will lease the building for 20 years. While the former Land Ambulance building served the community for many years, the space no longer met KDSB’s Northwest EMS needs regarding space, design, or on-site staff accommodations.

“Through the leadership of the Township of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls, and this unique partnership, the KDSB can continue to ensure that Emergency Medical Services will continue to serve the community for years to come. The new space ensures that our front-line Primary Care Paramedics are supported in their work, allowing for ample vehicle, administration, and accommodation space for staff,” says Henry Wall, Chief Administrative Officer of the KDSB.

“The new space will accommodate the present-day operational, health and safety needs of Paramedic services in Sioux Narrows – Nestor Falls.  We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Kenora District Services Board, and to ensure the continuity of this essential service, long-term, in our community,” says Wanda Kabel, Chief Administrative Officer of the Township of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls.

The new building is over 2,500 square feet and features a 2-bay garage, on-site sleeping quarters, washrooms, office space, a lounge/kitchen, and utility space.
