“The completion of construction and opening the building to tenants is a welcome sight and is a celebration for the community and our commitment to improving everyday lives and goals within our Ten-Year Housing and Homelessness Plan,” says Henry Wall, Chief Administrative Officer of the KDSB. He continues, “We want the community to come in and see what a wonderful complex this is and its ability to provide someone a safe place to call home.”

10 Matheson provides 20 affordable housing units, 4 of which are barrier-free and fully accessible. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was followed by an open house tour to give the community an in-depth look at the housing complex.

“Today’s official opening of Kenora District Services Board’s Affordable Housing Development is a celebration of the progress in our community that can be achieved when partners in the Northwest come together,” said Greg Rickford, Member of Provincial Parliament for Kenora-Rainy River. “The Matheson Street property provides our community’s most vulnerable with affordable housing and supportive services giving them a better, brighter future and our government is proud to support this transformative project by KDSB.”

The KDSB would like to thank the City of Kenora, community members of Kenora, and Marrbeck Construction for their support and work towards making this greatly needed housing complex a reality in Kenora.
