The Kenora District Services Board (KDSB) is pleased to announce that it is seeking proposals for its 2023 “Child Poverty Reduction Reinvestment Funding” (CPRRF) for new or enhanced programs, benefits and/or services that assist youth within the jurisdiction of the Kenora District Services Board. The KDSB Board of Directors provides an annual funding contribution of $130,145.

The CPRRF objectives are:

  • to help prevent and reduce the depth of child poverty; and
  • to promote attachment to the workforce, resulting in fewer families relying on social assistance and ensuring that families will always be better off working. Child Poverty Reduction Reinvestment funds must be used to create new programs or build on existing funding rather than replace current program spending.

Project proposals demonstrating community coordination with more than one partner will be considered an asset.

“The Board continues its annual allocation to the Child Poverty Reduction Reinvestment Fund as there is a long-term need to support vulnerable youth in our District. The funding intends to ensure that all youth have barrier-free opportunities within their community and that all youth experience equity and inclusion, regardless of their family’s income. Approved programs and services that receive funding help provide an opportunity for inclusion and participation without worrying about the cost being a barrier,” says Barry Baltessen, Board Chair of the KDSB.

Organizations and groups that intend to submit a proposal for 2023 may do so by visiting to obtain an application form or by requesting a form from Proposal applications are due on Friday, May 5, 2023, by 4:00 pm.
