Indigenous-led child care is expanding in Red Lake. The Kenora District Services Board (KDSB) and the Red Lake Indian Friendship Centre (RLIFC) have agreed to create 24 new preschool spaces at RLIFC’s site 2 location as part of a plan to add 1,101 new child care spaces in the District through the Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) system.

The Kenora District Services Board is seeking nominations for representation of the Territory without Municipal Organization to sit on their Board of Directors.

The nomination period ends on August 21, 2026, and election day is October 26, 2026.

The KDSB looks forward to providing purpose-built housing that provides accessible living and opportunities for improved social connections for senior and elder tenants in Red Lake. The Kenora District Services Board Licensed Early Learning and Care Programs has opened its electronic Wait List Intake Form for child care spaces at KDSB operated Early Learning Centre’s in communities across the Kenora District.
